This person wrote a poem that has been passed down for thousands of years, which was mistakenly believed to have been written by Li Bai

Living in modern times, many people know that online dating carries risks and requires caution. Before meeting the real person, no matter how much we talk, it is somewhat unstable for both sides; Once the other person’s appearance does not match your ideal state, this relationship will fall apart. This principle has been the same throughout history. For example, in Chinese history, there was a talented scholar who missed the opportunity to marry the daughter of a prime minister due to his unattractive appearance. The history encyclopedia editor brings relevant content to everyone. Interested friends, come and take a look.

The prime minister’s name is Zheng Tian (ti á n), and the talented scholar’s name is Luo Yin, both of whom lived in the late Tang Dynasty. Luo Yin was born in 833 AD in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. He was exceptionally talented from a young age and became famous throughout the world during his youth. At that time, Zheng Tian greatly appreciated the talent of this young man. Influenced by her father, Zheng’s daughter also developed a longing for Luo Yin and went to great lengths to collect his poems.
After reading Luo Yin’s poetry, Miss Zheng felt that the other party must be a charming and elegant young master in a turbid world, yet she fell deeply in love with him. Zheng Tian probably guessed his daughter’s intentions. He felt that Luo Yin would make a difference in the future and it would be good to marry her to him. So he chose a time to invite Luo Yin to his home as a guest. Miss Zheng heard that Luo Yin had arrived and quietly hid behind the screen to take a look. At this sight, her lovesickness suddenly spread its wings and flew away.
Originally, it was true that Luo Yin had talent, but his appearance was somewhat ugly. Miss Zheng was extremely disappointed and went back to burn all the collected poetry manuscripts, cutting off her desire to marry Luo Yin. As a result, Luo Yin lost the opportunity to become the prime minister’s son-in-law. However, Luo Yin’s talent is still recognized by the world. He once wrote a poem that has been passed down for thousands of years, often mistaken for a work of Li Bai.

This poem is called “Self Dispatch”, which is a seven character quatrain: “When you get it, sing high; when you lose it, rest; when you have sorrow and hate, it lingers long. There is wine today, get drunk; tomorrow, worry tomorrow!” The famous line in this poem, “There is wine today, get drunk today”, must be familiar to us. It is often quoted by modern people to express a life attitude similar to “drunkenness as a song, the geometry of life”, and has a wide range of dissemination.
However, this poem bears a strong resemblance to Li Taibai’s legacy, so some people always mistake it for Li Taibai’s work. There are many similarities between the fate of Luo Yin and Li Bai. Both of them rose to fame at a young age, had difficult career paths, and had a “wild” element in their temperament. Li Bai said, “When we laugh and go out, are we not the people of Penghao?” Luo Yin dared to openly mock the court in the imperial examination papers, which was very straightforward.
Moreover, Luo Yin’s luck was indeed not good. He took the imperial examination more than 10 times and failed every time. When his career was not smooth, Luo Yin shone brightly in the poetry world. The line “I have wine this morning, I am drunk this morning” may seem decadent and self deprecating on the surface, but in fact, it was a subtle mockery of the dark court at that time, forcing the poet to only relieve his worries through writing poetry. Therefore, the title of this poem is “Self Dispatch”.
But this poem has been passed down to this day, and people have become accustomed to using it to express a mentality of enjoying the moment. In fact, many of Luo Yin’s poems are familiar to us, but his fame is far inferior to Li Bai’s. For example, “After picking flowers and turning them into honey, work hard and be sweet for whom” is the work of Luo Yin; In addition, there is a poem written about Xi Shi, which also shows that although Luo Yin is not handsome, he has a strong personality.
The poem goes like this: “When the rise and fall of a country comes, why should the people of Wu blame Xi Shi? If Xi Shi were to overthrow the state of Wu, who would be responsible for the downfall of the state of Yue?” When many people thought that Xi Shi was the cause of the country’s downfall, Luo Yin alone spoke up for her, believing that the reason for the downfall of the state of Wu should not be attributed to the weak woman Xi Shi, indicating that Luo Yin’s talent was not rigid. Otherwise, how could he write the timeless saying ‘There is wine in this morning, drunk in this morning, tomorrow worries tomorrow’!
