How wild was Li Bai

Li Bai, who is revered as a poetic immortal of his generation, is almost the most well-known poet in modern people’s impression of Tang Dynasty poetry. Anyone from the street can recite several poems by Li Bai. In Li Bai’s poetry, there are homesickness, nostalgia for the past, scenery, and self obsession. Li Bai’s madness is something that others envy but cannot achieve. Many things Li Bai dares to do, but when it comes to others, he may not be able to do them so smoothly. So, to what extent has Li Bai’s madness reached? Why does he dare to do this?
Laughing loudly from the sky, born of my own talent, emitting the charm of playing with a flat boat, these carefree words are all from the poetry of Li Bai. His’ madness’ can be said to be ingrained in his bones, no matter who he is to. Du Fu once wrote, ‘When the emperor calls, he cannot board the ship.’ This can be said that Li Bai has reached a madness that does not take the world seriously, even including the emperor.
Li Bai once flattered others by not only giving out high hats in his cover letters, but also praising himself along the way. However, Han Yu, one of the Eight Great Masters of the Tang and Song dynasties, initially flattered others, but people’s views of them were completely different. Han Yu received cold eyes, while Li Bai did not. It is precisely because Li Bai has always been very unrestrained that he cannot control his behavior and thoughts, so what he can write, even flattery, is normal.
Li Bai loves drinking, as can be seen from both his own poems and those described by others. We all know that after drinking too much alcohol, people tend to have a feeling of drifting, and this feeling is exactly what Li Bai loved. Don’t let the golden bottle stand empty against the moon. He has great talent and a broad vision. What he can write, others cannot write. Even if he can write, there will be no envy worthy elegance and romance revealed between the lines. Li Bai is very crazy, but it’s natural. If he wasn’t crazy, he probably wouldn’t be Li Bai.
