What kind of life did Shen Zhenzhu lead after giving birth to her eldest son for Li Yu Why is she missing

Shen Shi, the specific name is unknown, and the name “Shen Zhenzhu” that has been passed down is the name chosen by later literary authors when creating their biographies. Her life was full of ups and downs, and the reason why she is famous in the world is because of Tang Dezong’s continuous search for her mother after decades of succession, which is touching. In the history of the Tang Dynasty, there is a record that “Emperor Daizong searched for Empress Dowager, and Emperor Dezong searched for his mother”. The woman she was looking for was Shen Zhenzhu, who was also Empress Ruizhen of Emperor Tang.
According to legend, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang saw that Shen Zhenzhu was born with a “beautiful jade like appearance and a quality comparable to refined gold”, and learned that she had “read ten years and read ten thousand volumes”. He selected her as a member of the good family and sent her to the Eastern Palace as a concubine to the grandson of the emperor, Li Yu. Shen Zhenzhu was as beautiful as a flower and was once deeply loved by Li Yu. The following year, she gave birth to Li Shi, the eldest son of Li Yu, who later became Emperor Dezong of Tang.
Despite being favored, Shen Zhenzhu’s position is not so stable. Cui Shi, the daughter of a Korean woman and the niece of Yang Guifei, is the legitimate wife of Li Yu. Cui Shi’s appearance is shy and shy, but she is naturally jealous and fierce. Therefore, despite giving birth to a eldest son for Li Yu, Shen Zhenzhu’s life was not easy.
In 755, the An Lushan Rebellion broke out, and Emperor Xuanzong of Tang fled in panic with his princes and grandchildren. Due to their low status, Shen Zhenzhu and some relatives were unable to flee with them. Therefore, after the rebels captured Chang’an, Shen Zhenzhu was captured and detained in Luoyang. In 757, Li Yu recaptured Luoyang and found Shen Zhenzhu, who had been imprisoned for over a year, in the Yeting. But Li Yu did not bring Shen Zhenzhu back to Chang’an, but continued to let her stay in Luoyang, because no one knew whether Shen Zhenzhu had been unfaithful during her captivity.
In 759, Shi Siming once again captured Luoyang, and since then, Shen Zhenzhu’s whereabouts have been unknown. In 764, Li Shi was appointed as the Crown Prince and conferred the title of Crown Prince. At the same time, Emperor Li Yu of Tang Dynasty issued an edict to search for Shen Zhenzhu, but for more than a decade, nothing was found. In 779, Emperor Tang passed away and Li Shi succeeded to the throne, conferring the title of Empress Dowager on his birth mother, Shen Shi. Throughout his life, Emperor Dezong of Tang, Li Shi, searched for his birth mother, and it is reported that there were multiple incidents of impersonation during this period.
From this, it can be seen that Emperor Tang did not cherish Shen Zhenzhu, and the only woman he cherished was Empress Dugu Guifei.
