Hi, it’s time to meet everyone again. Today, the History Encyclopedia editor has brought an article about Dong’e Gege. I hope you like it.

Dong’e Gege is the only daughter of Dorgon. Dorgon’s dozen wives and concubines only gave birth to one daughter, and there is no clear record of her birth mother. It is speculated that she is the daughter of the Korean royal family, Li Shi.
In November of the seventh year of Shunzhi, Dorgon died suddenly. The last record of his only daughter Dong’ergue is that she was entrusted to the care of Prince Doni of Xinjun, who was 12 years old at the time. Doni was the second son of Dorgon’s younger brother, Dorgon. He inherited the title of Prince Yu from Dorgon and was renamed Prince Xin in the eighth year of the Shunzhi reign. However, due to Dorgon’s liquidation, Doni, as Dorgon’s nephew, was inevitably affected and was demoted to the rank of County Prince in 1652.
Emperor Shunzhi’s settlement of Dorgon did not affect her family, and entrusting Dong’e Gege to Doni’s care was precisely to save her life. Although Doni was implicated and demoted to the county king, he at least saved his life and should be able to take good care of his uncle’s only daughter.

There are several speculations about the whereabouts after Dong’e Gege:
1. Married to Mongolia. In the early Qing Dynasty, Manchu Mongolian intermarriage was the norm. Although Dorgon was convicted, Donge was not expelled from the royal family and remained a daughter of the royal family. However, if she marries into a family in the capital, her status will be very awkward, so marrying away may be the best choice for her. It not only avoids the embarrassment of her status and obtains a marriage that is equivalent to her status, but also benefits the court, which can be said to be killing two birds with one stone.
2. Marrying an ordinary person while wandering among the people. I personally think this statement is not very reliable. When Dorgon was convicted, Donge was already 12 years old. Although she had experienced some changes, her years of education made her less likely to marry ordinary people in the folk.
3. Dong’e Gege was the consort of Emperor Shunzhi, Dong E. This speculation may seem a bit absurd, but it is not groundless. Firstly, the record of Dong’e Gege’s background and final destination is very vague. In theory, as the only daughter of the once powerful Dorgon, Dong’e Gege’s record should be more detailed, but it is not. There are also doubts about the origin record of Empress Dong E, and there is no detailed record of her birth mother. Therefore, it is possible that after Dong Egge was handed over to Doni, she was recognized by E Shuo as his daughter by chance. Furthermore, the pronunciation of Dong E=Dong E is the same, which also raises suspicions.
