Recently, many people have been talking about Princess Yuzhen’s child. Many people have also asked who the child of Princess Yuzhen is, is it really Wang Wei’s, or is it Li Bai’s? For those who are interested in these issues, we can analyze them briefly.

Princess Yuzhen’s child is really unknown, but there is a high probability that it is not Wang Wei’s. Moreover, Princess Yuzhen said she has two children, which is really interesting. It is said that the princess of the Tang Dynasty cannot find her father for the child she gave birth to. It is really interesting.
But through some historical materials, we can analyze from the side that there are still clues to whose child this Princess Yuzhen’s child belongs to.
There is no trace of Princess Yuzhen’s eldest son in history, but there are traces of Princess Yuzhen’s second son. In 1966, an epitaph was unearthed at the Second Brick and Tile Factory in Sanyao Village, southern suburbs of Xi’an. This epitaph is called the “Inscription of Master Shang Jian Dao at Jiuhua Temple” (also known as the “Tang Dynasty Jiuhua Temple [Que] [Que] Shi Cang Xing Ji”), which records many things about Princess Yuzhen.

According to inscriptions, Shang Jian was the granddaughter of Tang Ruizong and the third daughter of Princess Cai. She married Zhang Ti, who was the second son of Princess Yuzhen. Zhang Ti’s career reached the rank of Honglu Qing, but during the reign of Emperor Suzong of Tang Dynasty (760-761 AD), he got involved in a major trouble and was exiled, passing away in Lingnan. Shang Jian’s entry into the Tao is not unrelated to the blow of losing his husband.
It can be seen that Princess Yuzhen’s second son is this Zhang Ti, and he also has a surname, so Princess Yuzhen must be the second son born to a person surnamed Zhang.
So from this, it can be seen that the probability of Princess Yuzhen being a child of Wang Weisheng has decreased by 50%, at least the second son is not Wang Wei’s, and the eldest son is a mystery.
So can we find out who the father of this second son Zhang Ti is? Actually, there are also clues. Li Bai and Princess Yuzhen had a close relationship, so Li Bai wrote a poem for Princess Yuzhen called “Yuzhen Immortal Poem” and also wrote a poem for Princess Yuzhen called “Two Poems Presented to Captain Zhang Qing in the Bitter Rain of Princess Yuzhen’s Pavilion”. Judging from the name of the second poem, it was actually a poem given by Li Bai to “Captain Zhang Qing” at that time, and the gift was given to Princess Yuzhen’s villa. So the person who can be sent a poem by Li Bai in Princess Yuzhen’s villa must be very remarkable, and this “Wei Wei Zhang Qing” happens to have the same surname as this Zhang, named Zhang Yong, so many people suspect that Princess Yuzhen’s second son should be “Wei Wei Zhang Yong”.
In the Tang Dynasty, the customs were open and the status of women was very high, so it was normal to have two children without finding the father. Haha, it’s really interesting. Of course, perhaps what we analyzed above is wrong. Only Princess Yuzhen knows the real truth.
