Tang Wenzong Li Ang, the son of Tang Muzong Li Heng, ascended to the throne as emperor at the age of 18. At the beginning of his succession, he was ambitious and determined to work hard for governance, for which he did achieve many political achievements.
Unfortunately, later on, Emperor Wenzong of Tang wanted to execute eunuchs and regain imperial power, which led to the Ganlu Incident. However, in this coup, Tang Wenzong not only failed, but also was placed under house arrest.

Tang Wenzong was born on November 20, 809, with his real name Li Han. In 821, he was conferred the title of King of Jiang.
Later, Li Ang’s brother Tang Jingzong was killed by eunuchs Liu Keming and others in 826 AD, and Liu Keming then wanted to make Prince Jiang Li Wu emperor. But eunuchs Wang Shoucheng and Liang Shouqian killed Li Keming and Li Wu, and proclaimed Li Ang emperor.
