Does Li Shimin know about the relationship between Wu Zetian and Li Zhi What did Li Shimin think

Do you really know Li Zhi and Wu Zetian? The history encyclopedia editor provides detailed related content for everyone. What was the love story between Wu Zetian and Li Zhi like? Does Li Shimin know about this matter?
There is a saying in history that when Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, was alive, he discovered Wu Zetian’s extraordinary qualities. The reason why he did not favor Wu Zetian was because he was afraid that she would disturb the Li Tang dynasty. Some say that when Emperor Taizong of Tang was alive, he had already discovered the abnormal love between Crown Prince Li Zhi and Wu Zetian, so he sent Wu Zetian to become a nun.
(Li Shimin, Emperor Taizong of Tang)
I think the reason for such a statement is a reverse thinking pattern, because Wu Zetian ultimately took control of the Li Tang dynasty, so many people think that Emperor Taizong attached great importance to Wu Zetian. So, did Emperor Taizong of Tang attach great importance to Empress Wu Zetian during his lifetime? Does he know that his son put a green hat on him?
Let’s first take a look at a widely circulated legend. It is said that there was a saying among the people at that time: ‘The female lead, Wu Wang, has the world.’. At that time, divination was still very popular. Because of the appearance of this divination, Emperor Taizong of Tang was very anxious and specially brought Li Chunfeng, a major figure in the Eight Trigrams of the Book of Changes, to solve the mystery for him. However, Li Chunfeng only mentioned who it was in his harem, but believed that the secrets of heaven could not be revealed and did not tell Emperor Taizong of Tang. So through repeated investigations, Emperor Taizong of Tang found Li Junxian, who was guarding Xuanwu Gate. Li Junxian was conferred the title of “General of Wuwei” and the title of “Duke of Wulian County”. He was born in “Wu’an County” and guarded Xuanwu Gate, also known as “Wuniangzi”. There were too many words that sounded the same as “Wu” or “Wu”, and he became a scapegoat. He was demoted and beheaded by Emperor Taizong of Tang.
Regardless of whether this statement has historical basis or not, at least one thing needs to be clarified: Emperor Taizong of Tang, who wanted to break through the heavens, never thought of Wu Zetian.
(Extraordinary Empress Wu Zetian)
Since he couldn’t think of Wu Zetian, it means that Emperor Taizong of Tang did not consider her a threatening person.
As soon as Wu Zetian entered the palace, she was conferred the title of talented person due to her father’s connections. But after more than ten years by the side of Emperor Taizong of Tang, he has always been a talented person. Talented people are of a relatively low rank among concubines, but she has never received any rewards. Why didn’t you receive the reward? Later researchers believed that this was because Emperor Taizong of Tang did not like her and considered her dangerous. The evidence is as follows——
A minister presented a fine horse to Emperor Taizong of Tang. Emperor Taizong of Tang took them hunting, and Wu Zetian was also present at that time. This horse has a fierce temper and is very difficult to subdue. Tang Taizong asked who could subdue him. Wu Zetian stood up and said, ‘I can subdue you, just give me three tools.’. What tools did Emperor Taizong ask about? Wu Zetian said: A whip, a dagger, a hammer. Li Shimin asked her how to use it? Wu Zetian said: First use a whip to whip the horse. If it doesn’t obey, use a hammer to break its leg. If it still doesn’t obey, use a dagger to stab its throat. According to historical records, Emperor Taizong of Tang praised Wu Zetian at that time.
Later generations analyzed that although Emperor Taizong praised Wu Zetian, he also felt the terror of this woman and did not like her from then on, never rewarding her.
(Li Zhi, Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty)
Perhaps this statement is correct, Tang Taizong did not like Wu Zetian. However, because of this, I don’t like it, but it’s difficult to convince people because Emperor Taizong himself was a ruthless person. If this was said by a minister, Emperor Taizong of Tang would definitely take it seriously. If a woman, and his woman, said it, what’s the problem?
So, Wu Zetian did not succeed under Emperor Taizong of Tang, and I think it is more likely because Wu Zetian’s rank was too low, and she did not have the opportunity to wait for Emperor Taizong’s favor, so she never had the chance to perform in front of him. Therefore, Emperor Taizong did not attach importance to her and did not promote her.
So, did Emperor Taizong of Tang understand that Wu Zetian used female means to capture young Li Zhi?
Although there is no historical record, I think it is definitely not understood.
(Empress Wu Zetian)
One reason is that Wu Zetian was a ruthless but also quite cautious person. In order to achieve success, she absolutely ensured that everything was foolproof and would not let Tang Taizong know.
Secondly, at that time, Emperor Taizong of Tang was already very ill and his mind was not very clear, so how could he still pay attention to the issue of his son’s relationship with other women.
Thirdly, Emperor Taizong of Tang did not pay attention to Wu Zetian, so he did not guard against her.
Fourthly, even if someone understands, they know that Li Shimin is a dying man, and Li Zhi is the next emperor, so no one can tell Emperor Taizong of Tang.
Fifth, if Emperor Taizong of Tang understood, according to his suspicious personality, would he tolerate Wu Zetian’s survival in the world? And the so-called sending to become a nun was just a common way of dealing with deceased imperial concubines in the Tang Dynasty.
