How ambitious is Li Hou’er Surprisingly, he poisoned his own father and wanted to become the queen himself

Li Hou’er, next let’s listen to the history encyclopedia editor tell us some of his stories.
We all know that in ancient times, there were four beautiful women: Xi Shi, Wang Zhaojun, Diao Chan, and Yang Yuhuan. Among them, Yang Yuhuan of the Tang Dynasty was so beautiful that he even disregarded ethics and took his daughter-in-law as his own. But Yang Yuhuan was not actually the most beautiful woman of the Tang Dynasty. Today, we are going to introduce her. The secretary of the “New Book of Tang” described her as “dazzling and moving the world”, and she is the true number one beauty of the Tang Dynasty. She is Princess Anle Li Hou’er.
Li Hou’er was the daughter of Emperor Zhongzong of Tang, Li Xian. Her mother was Lady Wei, and when she was born, her father Li Xian was deposed as the King of Luling. She took Lady Wei, who was pregnant with six armor, to Fangzhou. Unfortunately, Li Hou’er was born on the way. Due to the lack of a professional midwife, Li Xian had to send a duck to Lady Wei for delivery. After the baby was born, Li Xian took off his clothes and wrapped her up. The birth of a child was originally a good thing, but when Li Xian thought that he had only been emperor for 55 days before being deposed as the Prince of Luling, he felt sad and named his daughter Li Wan’er.
Li Xian is a weak and incompetent man who is filled with fear towards his mother Wu Zetian and has been deposed as the Queen of Luling. Li Xian is constantly anxious and worried, like a death row prisoner about to be executed in autumn, fearing that his mother will suddenly send someone to kill him. Due to Li Huai’er’s birth in hardship, Li Xian was filled with guilt towards her and doted on her greatly. As historical records say, ‘From a young age, I listened to her desires and allowed everything she wanted.’.
Under the meticulous care of her parents, Li Hou’er grew up day by day. By the time she was in her teens, she had already become a beautiful and intelligent little beauty. However, due to her parents’ indulgence, Li Hou’er was also very spoiled, willful, and domineering. After Li Xian was deposed for more than ten years, his mother Wu Zetian recalled him to Chang’an City. Prince Luling Li Xian became the crown prince again, and Li Hou’er naturally returned to the bustling Chang’an. When Wu Zetian saw this granddaughter, she was very fond of her and named her “Princess Anle”.
Li Xian became the crown prince again, and Wu Zetian’s nephew Wu Sansi found a way to establish a relationship. Wu Sansi asked his son Wu Chongxun to pursue Li Hou’er. Wu Chongxun was a promiscuous young man who easily took care of Li Hou’er, who was just starting to fall in love. Li Hou’er became pregnant before marriage and had to marry Wu Chongxun. Pregnancy before marriage was a major scandal in the Tang Dynasty, and Li Hou’er was criticized by later generations for being frivolous and promiscuous. But why only criticize Li Hou’er? Pregnancy is not something that can be achieved by one person alone. The couple gave birth to a boy within six months of marriage.
In the first year of the Shenlong era (705 AD), Zhang Jianzhi, Li Duozuo, and others launched the Shenlong coup, forcing Wu Zetian to abdicate and return power to Li Tang. Thus, Li Xian once again became emperor. When her father ascended the throne again, Li Hou’er completely released her nature, relying on her father’s indulgence to act against the law, openly selling official positions and making large sums of money.
Encouraged by her husband Wu Chongxun, Li Hou’er also wanted to emulate her grandmother Wu Zetian and become a female emperor. She asked her father Li Xian to depose the Crown Prince and make her the “Empress Dowager”. With her father’s love for her, she completely disregarded her half brother, Crown Prince Li Chongjun, and even called him a slave. Li Chongjun could no longer bear it and was afraid that his position would be threatened, so he launched a coup and killed Wu Chongxun, the husband of Wu Sansi and Li Wan’er. Li Chongjun was also killed due to the failure of the coup.
After the death of Crown Prince Li Zhongjun, Princess Anle became even more arrogant. Shortly after her husband’s death, she immediately married Wu Yanxiu. Wu Yanxiu was the son of Wu Chengsi, and he had always had an affair with Princess Anle. Now, after Wu Chongxun’s death, Princess Anle immediately married Wu Yanxiu.
Empress Wei, the mother, and Princess Anle, the daughter, were both fools who wanted to imitate Empress Wu Zetian and become emperors. They conspired to poison Emperor Tang Zhongzong Li Xian. Empress Wei and Li Xian once shared hardships together, while Princess Anle was the most favored by Li Xian. However, in order to pursue their political ambitions, these two femme fatally killed Li Xian.
However, the two of them were not suitable for becoming empresses after all. Later, Princess Taiping and Li Longji jointly launched the Tang Long coup and beheaded Princess Anle. As a result, the first snake scorpion beauty of the Tang Dynasty died at the age of only 25. After her death, she was posthumously demoted to a “rebellious commoner”.
There are many records in historical books about Princess Anle Li Hou’er’s misconduct, such as disobeying the rules of women, behaving recklessly, being arrogant and acting recklessly. The biggest crime among them is: “Secretly using poison, causing the collapse of Emperor Zhongzong, destroying the heart in six directions, and concealing the colors in three directions.” She cruelly poisoned her own father, truly the most poisonous woman’s heart!
